"I'd rather see a sermon"

For my first post I have a great little poem from a book that I am currently reading by Stuart Gramenz called "I've Got You Covered - Cutting Through the Bull Part 2" Don't you just love the title?! Anyway, here tis - enjoy!

I’D RATHER SEE A SERMON
I’d rather see a sermon than hear one any day;
I’d rather one should walk with me than merely show the way.
The eye’s a better pupil and more willing than the ear,
Fine counsel is confusing, but example’s always clear;
And the best of all the preachers are the men who live their creeds,
For to see good put into action's what everybody needs.
I soon can learn to do it if you’ll let me see it done;
I can watch your hands in action, but your tongue too fast may run.
And the lecture you deliver may be very wise and true,
But I’d rather get my lessons by observing what you do;
For I might misunderstand you and the high advice you give,
But there’s no misunderstanding how you act and how you live.
When I see a deed of kindness, I am eager to be kind.
When a weaker brother stumbles and a strong man stays behind
Just to see if he can help him, then the wish grows strong in me
To become as big and thoughtful as I knew that friend to be.
And all the travelers can witness that the best of guides today
Is not the one who tells them, but the one who shows the way.
One good man teaches many, men believe what they behold;
One deed of kindness noticed is worth forty that are told.
Who stands with men of honor learns to hold his honor dear,
For right living speaks a language which to everyone is clear.
Though an able speaker charms me with his eloquence, I say,
I’d rather see a sermon than hear one any day.

Hi Ben! I was looking up on Google to find "I's rather see a Sermon", a poem which I first learned almost 40 years ago.
I then and there grabbed my guitar and made a song out of it. I still sing it frequently.
My name is Knut, I am 60, live outside of Oslo, Norway. My wife Ragnhild and I have two grown up children, Jon 30 and Kristin 26. I received the Lord as my Savour in 1970 and was followed up by a group of Christians called The Navigators. I attend a men's group and a we visit a Christian Iranian Church in oslo, where we help out with the Sundayschool. I like to listen to Keith Moore- the charismatic pastor from Branson, Missouri. www.morelifenow.org
It is strong and clear Bible teaching without any doubt. We are both teachers, and we also have a parttime business with Forever, a great Aloe Vera-company.
Ok, let's see if you respond to my comment: knut@ski.online.no
Yours in Christ
